Haydock Park Racecourse is indebted to the support it receives from the racing professionals – from Owners and Trainers who bring their horses to Haydock to the Press and other Media Supporters who report on our racedays.
We hope that any queries you may have are answered in this section and are relevant to you, but we are more than happy to furnish you with any other information you may require.
We look forward to welcoming you to Haydock Park Racecourse in 2011/12.
For the Flat Season the Owners and Trainers Bar, situated adjacent to the parade ring, provides an exclusive facility for connections of the runners at each meeting. Within this facility there will be a selection of hot and cold sandwiches and tea and coffee available.
For use during the Jump season, this new improved facility is located next to the Weighing Room, and owners can reserve up to a maximum of four places per runner and two places for the trainer. Within this facility you will be offered a complimentary carvery lunch. Tables will be for 10, so you may be sharing with the owner and trainer of another horse (we will be very happy to seat groups together if requested in advance), and your place will be reserved for the day. There is also the facility to request a replay of any of the races that take place at Haydock Park on the day. Please note that these lunch places are strictly non-transferable and can only be used by the registered owner or trainer.
So that we know how many people to expect on the day, reserved places in the Pavilion must be booked by 3pm the day before racing by calling Vikki Roberts on 01942 402609.
We regret the necessity of having to restrict the number of places per runner to four owners due to space, but if demand on the Pavilion is lower than expected on a particular day, we will be happy to make extra spaces available. However, this will only be considered in advance of the meeting. There will be a charge of £40.00 plus VAT per head for any additional places.
Alternatively, for those of you who prefer not to sit down for lunch, there will be complimentary hot baguettes available at the carvery. Please see Vikki Roberts in the Pavilion on the day for your voucher.
Tables may also be available in one of our three restaurants, where special packages can be reserved at reduced prices for Owners and Trainers. We also have a number of Private Hospitality Boxes which may be available for hire. For further information, including prices, please contact the Sales Office on 01942 402 624.
It is advisable to book any of the above as far in advance as possible through the Sales Office, as places can get fully booked on busier meetings.
On arrival, Owners will be able to collect up to four owners’ badges per runner, or six for partnerships and syndicates, plus complimentary racecards from the main entrance building. Please bring your PASS card with you. If you have a requirement for one or two additional owners’ badges this will only be considered in advance of the meeting.
Please note also that badges will not be allocated to owners or trainers whose horses are non-runners after declarations. For any special requests, please contact Vikki Roberts on 01942 402 609.
Please note that we will be operating a strict dress code in the Owners and Trainers facilities and the County Enclosure. Dress requirements are smart casual, no denim jeans, t-shirts, tracksuits or training shoes. Please ensure that all of your party is aware of this, as visitors who do not adhere to this policy will be refused access.
If you require any accommodation for your visit, please view our list of Local Hotels.
If you drive to Haydock Park (location within 1 mile of Junction 23 of the M6), you will be sent a car park label for a reserved space very close to the main entrance. Our car park attendants will direct you to the closest available space.
Warrington Bank Quay is the closest main line station to Haydock Park, with direct trains from London Euston via Watford Junction, Milton Keynes, Rugby and Crewe; it is also on a direct route from Birmingham New Street; and from the north there are direct trains from Glasgow via Carlisle, Penrith, Lancaster and Preston. For information on these services you can call Train Enquiries on 08457 484950.
The closest airports to Haydock Park are Manchester and Liverpool John Lennon, and both are approximately 30 minutes from us by car.
For private light aircraft there is a landing strip (800 meters long) running East to West on the racecourse (this is currently CLOSED), and a marked landing area for helicopters.
Please contact Vikki Roberts on 01942 402609 to arrange this. All aircraft must have prior permission to land at the racecourse.
Once again this season, we are making special efforts to keep trainers up-to-date with going changes and weather forecasts. If you would like an up-to-the-minute going report, please call our Clerk of the Course, Kirkland Tellwright on 01942 402618. Alternatively, our going report can be viewed on online.
If you would like any photographs from the day, our course photographer Alan Wright can be contacted on 01695 724 504 or visit the website at http://www.officialphotographers.gbr.cc/ to view the raceday photographs. A DVD of your race is also available to owners of horses that are placed and this will be presented on the day.
Haydock Park Racecourse currently has three ownership syndicates - two on the flat and one over jumps. Each one comprises of twenty, 5% shares. The details are as follows:
The Haydock Badgeholders - 'Turn On The Style' trained by John Balding at Scrooby near Doncaster. 'Style' is a winner of ten races and more than £122,000 in prize money. He is currently recuperating from an operation on his near foreleg and it is hoped to have him back in action on the track in late summer/early autumn. If everything goes to plan then he will be aimed at the Dubai International Racing Carnival in January 2011.
The Haydock Hopefuls - 'Gracelightening' is trained locally at Lydiate on Merseyside by Paul Green. This three-year-old filly by Australian Champion racehorse Reset was placed in a hot Thirsk Maiden over a mile from three starts last year. She starts her second season with a handicap mark of 67 and is expected to give us plenty of fun in the months ahead. There are currently a few 5% shares available at £500 each.
The Haydock Club - Trained by Martin Todhunter at Orton in Cumbria, 'Hernando Cortes' is now ready to run after a winter break. Placed both on the flat and over hurdles, 'Cortes' is one of the best bred horses in training being by Sadlers' Wells out of Houseproud who was a winner of the French 1,000 Guineas. He needs good ground to show his best form and is therefore is expected to do very well over hurdles between now and the autumn. A horse definitely worth following.
