HAYDOCK Park Racecourse is giving all children free admission in 2010.
Until now, the racecourse – in common with the majority in Britain – admitted accompanied under 16s without charge. The age has now been lifted to all those ‘17 and under’. No one will pay until they become an adult.
Dickon White, the racecourse’s managing director, said: “We’re endeavouring as a racecourse and as a sport to attract as many young people as possible. “With that in mind, the first logical step was to raise our free admission policy to ALL children. “It is one of the great selling points of horse racing that youngsters are admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult. That’s just got better.”
The new policy comes into effect at this Saturday’s fixture (23 JANUARY) – the opening meeting of 2010 at Haydock Park.
Admission for adults starts at £8 – and senior citizens and students can enter the Tattersalls and Newton Enclosure Enclosures at half price.
The first race time is 1.10pm.
*Admission: Newton Enclosure £8; Tattersalls £15; County Enclosure £23; Premier Enclosure £34. Accompanied children aged 17 and under enter free. Senior citizens and students, with appropriate identification, enter Tattersalls and the Newton Enclosure at half price.
